Pedestrian accidents that occur in Louisiana unfortunately are not well protected by the law. Motor vehicles have a right of way on the roads, not pedestrians. However, pedestrians are generally protected when using designated crosswalks, but as we all know Louisianians often tend to disregard marked crosswalks and Louisiana drivers tend to disregard pedestrians. A pedestrian walking on or near the road in Louisiana in general has limited legal protection and should be extremely careful.
